I just figured the other thread is too big, and you know about the whole server issue, so let's not post in that one anymore. Let's post in this one.

What server issue?

Well I just posted in the other thread about how high was her plane in the air before "it" happened. I've heard some say that it never really made it off the ground.

I wonder where that sole survivor was sitting and how he survived and everyone else didn't. I hope he lives. I can imagine that he'd be in critical condition.

Due to server problems, we can allow threads to get but so big.

It has been reported repeatedly that he is.

I cannot believe that Aaliyah is no longer with us. When my sister told me the news this morning I thought it was some sort of sick joke, but it's not.
I simply do not know what to say.
Her music was innovating and I really liked her music. It is very tragic that such a young, talented girl had to go like this. Like someone said here on the board, the song Gone Too Soon comes to mind.
Damn, I do not have words for this. It feels weird when I see her face on tv.

Here's more news on the people who were on the plane:

"Bahamian police Superintendent Basil Rahming said the other passengers killed included Scott Gallin, 41; Keith Wallace, 49, of Los Angeles; Douglas Kratz, 28, a representative for Virgin Records, and Eric Foreman, 29, both of Hollywood, Calif.; Gina Smith, 29, of New Jersey; and Christopher Maldonado, 32, of New York. The plane's pilot, identified only as L. Marael, also died."

I woke up 10 minutes ago just to see the clock outside my room (it was 9:15) and my brother told me someone died and too go on my computer. Telling me it was some arist on the table in my room I only saw Lil Mo and Aaliyah and he knows how I ADORE Aaliyah so I went in a fit and got on mtv.com.
I am seriously sitting here crying my eyes out! Other than Whiteny and Bjork AA;iyah was my favorite entertainer. She came out with the Best R&B album this year and was deveolpoing an excellent career. I still can't believe it I just can't believe it!!! IT's not fair!!!!! She was gone too quick! She was the one singer I ADORED, I loved her personality, her attitude her style, and her music she had it down for the young audiences. I will always miss her and I am extremely hurt that what could've came after "Aaliyah" will be unknown (movie roles, more albums).

LAST EDITED ON 26-08-01 AT 10:19 AM (EST)[p]You know what is funny? SERIOUSLY I thought of Selena Friday and pulled out her "Dreaming Of You" album remembering how silly of me it was to cry in the end of her movie but how the album was so incredible cause Selena had such an incredible career for her and how that career could only come close with music videos of archived footage (I Could Fall In Love) of Selena. I WILL BE DEVASTATED if the sleazebags geta final copy of Rock Da Boat and use it and/or they make videos by putting archived footage of Aaliyah in them. THEY BETTER not do that. It is terrible the way EVERY person here loved Aaliyah and it was just a coinicidence that she was killed; it hurts so bad. My coinicidence was that I started getting used to the Selena album after not listening to it for well over a 1 1/2 years. Also my favorite album of the year was AAliyah's but before that one it was Kirsty Maccoll's Tropical Brainstorm; a singer killed 1 week before Christmas in Mexico when a man went in "Swimming Only" areas and ran over her with a speedboat. It is too coincidental that my 2 favorite albums this year are by two artists who died before their real prime! But I still am not in admittance and refuse to have her career end at the release of the "Aaliyah" album. What can I do? It's so hard to let it all go that the one singer I ADORED dies on a plane crash where the odds are 1 in (what?) 6,000,000? I don't know what I am going to do..........

This is depressing. Christopher Maldonado is a well known make up artist who's worked with everybody in the business so I can imagine industry people will be mourning his loss as well. That guy Eric Foreman's name is familiar. I think he's Aaliyah's stylist or somebody in her camp.

There are so many coincidences to Aaliyah. On July 19th I was waiting to get home to Daytona from Sacremento California. We had rought flights on the way too that helped push my fear of flying to MAXIMUM heights. At the news stand in Sacremento there was the Vibe Magazine issue with Aaliyah on the cover. I read the magazine once on the plane and it turns out the captain says at the beginning of taxy-ing "We are sorry but the plane must return because of engine starter failure" and when we finally got back I continued reading the interview over and over again and once the plane took off I was so nervous that I cried (the only times I Cry are when I feel my life is in danger or when someone dies) but I continued to read the Vibe MAgazine and think that once I get home Aaliyah's album will be at my doorstep. After that the connecting flight from Dallas to Jacksonville was missed so we left late at night (Which got me very nervous) but at the Dallas airport there was a Rolling Stone magazine with my favorite band on the cover (RadioheaD) and Aaliyah was headlined on it meaning the review I read (excellent; they named it one of if not THE best R&B album of the year) many times but on the flight I read it 20 times so I could get over my fear of the turbulence and the thought of the plane crashing. I owe it to Aaliyah for making me feel safe then and it hurts me to know what has happenned to her. I remember last night from 9:45-10:15 I was the spa my family has trying to bring the Aaliyah CD And my boombox out but there was no plug so I got pi--ed and thought "Wouldn't it be cool to listen to U Got Nerve" or "We Need a Resolution" now? Thrusday I was at the pool where there are speakers for A CD player that holds 6 CD's. I put "One In A Million" and "Aaliyah" in them and pushed the Random button so I could hear any song from the 2 as a suprise. I remember swimming and singing to parts of songs like "The One I Gave My Heart To", "One In A Million", "If Your Girl Only Knew", and "Ladies In Da House" there were some "aaliyah" tracks too. When I got out of the pool I folded my hands and said "please play Got To Give It Up" (my fav. song off of One In A Million) and it did! I was so amazed and happy! Once that song was over I did the same thing saying "PLease play I Refuse...nah it won't work" (my fav. song off of her new album) and it did! I was such a HUGE fan of Aaliyah these past weeks that it kills me to know she has past. I just hope

1)No more videos from the album (singles-yes)
2)No comparing to "ghetto" deaths like Notorious B.I.G. or 2pac
3)The music industry will notice Aaliyah's class and maturity and try to make it carry on.

Well there was one completed video..."More Than A Woman" I believe. And she was in the bahamas completing "Rock the Boat".

I adamantly oppose that. Rock the Boat is complete, and I'd like them to use footage to make her other videos. At least I can see her that way.

Oh My GOD! I ust found out. I was riding back from church with my friend, and I was commenting on how they are playing a lot of Aaliyah songs today. We were joking and said it must be her birthday. Then about a minute later, myf eidn calls me on my cell and tells me the news. Man, I was surpised. it is just a shame. I actaully liedk Aaliyah. She seemed very friendly and down to earth, and she was on her way to becoming a mega star with these movies and tight songs on the radio. What a shame.

I was like ya'll. I was in totally disbelief! We were in church this morning during alter call. The rev.asked if there were any concerns we wanted to raise. It was quiet for a minute when someone said R&B singer Aaliyah who was in the plane crash. I'm thinking, WHAT! I hope she's ok. The rev. wa slike yeah let's pray for the survivors and the families of those who died. I just knew Aaliyah survived. I went to ask my friend about it, and he like yeah Aaliyah died on the plane. I'l like you joking right! But he wasn't. We spent the day in the cafe singing old Aaliyah songs, then we went to John P. Kee's church.

It's amazing b/c you never realize how precious and fleeting life really is. We only have a moment. Tomorrow is not promised to us. Aaliyah was 22, a year older than me. Death has not crossed my mind. We always put death off as years and years down the road when it could really be right around the corner. I'm at a lost for words b/c we really don't know. My prayers are with them through this ordeal!

My friend said that someone named Dash-dun or something was on the plane too. I don't know who he is, but he said he dances with Jay-Z, and has a bald head. Anyone know?

God Blesses fall upon Aaliyah and the other passengers so they can see the face of our saviour and lord Jesus Christ! Thanks for being, and forever being a postive motivating force within our lives!

Oh my gosh, I just remembered, two of my cousins absoutly LOVE Aaliyah. I mean they love her like Whluver loves Destiny's Child, like we love Whitney! Oh I wish I had their phone numbers so I could call them. One is 14, one is 18. The 14 year old one just asked me to burn her CD for him when I saw him last in early august. Wow...

Terrence, Dame Dash is the CEO of Rock-A-Fella Records. It's been widely reported that he's Aaliyah's boyfriend. He's always dancing in Jay-Z's video's because they're best friends.

This is so unreal. "At Your Best (You Are Love" played on the radio today and it brought tears to my eyes again just listening to it. When it comes to the bridge the tears start flowing. People keep calling the radio station in tears and giving their condolences.

The contest was over according to BET... This is what they had to say:

The loss hit BET Networks especially hard. Aaliyah made her last television appearance on BET last week, handing over the keys to a Cadillac Escalade to winner Julian Hawkins, 19, of Chester, Pa.

“I didn’t believe it at first,” the stunned winner said Sunday. “It’s crazy to come into contact with somebody like that and then a week later, they’re gone from the face of the earth forever. But from that little bit of contact we had, it seemed like she was a cool person. When I first went up there, and we went to commercial, I didn’t know who to give the mic to. She was like ‘Sit down next to me.’ I couldn’t believe Aaliyah said that.”

Aaliyah was a popular guest on BET. This was her second “106 and Park” appearance this summer. “She was an amazing person,” says 106 and Park co-host A.J. “It was like an angel walking. She was a sweetheart. She had a fun spirit. It’s a devastating loss to the world. We lost one of God’s finest.” Big Tigger, host of “Rap City: The Bassment,” echoed those sentiments. “I'm still in disbelief,” he says. “How could this happen to such a sweet, young and talented person? Although I knew her personally only in a limited capacity, I feel like I've lost a close friend. I send my condolences out to her family, friends and fans. This unfortunate tragedy should serve as further evidence that no one is promised tomorrow.”

From what I understand, my radio station has done anothing about this yet. I find that a bit strange. It is Sunday though, so they have that tired gospel/church thing going on until like 4:30 PM. It's 5:00 now.

Dog, you really need to think about what you say before you say it. There is nothing tired about the gospel or church. If you are an atheist then so be it, but you're feelings are not the only ones put out on this board.

It's not tired because I don't believe in it. It has ALWAYS seemed tired to me because it's on ALL DAMN DAY and it's more preacher than music from 11:00 AM till the finish.

That's very true, yet they *WILL* be here along with everybody else's.

But still, that may be the only Word that some people get. Don't knock it. I think it's a shame they only play the gospel music on Sunday. The Lord's grace and mercy flows freely EVERYDAY, not just Sunday. Can we get some more gospel other than the R&B friendly tracks they use as breaks...

There are gospel/religious stations here, and that's where I think this belongs, especially at such a huge length. Personally, I don't think an R&B/Hip hop radio station should advocate any religion unless they include several of them. Leave the individual religious focus to the real religious stations.

I don't know what to say....everything i say will not express the way i feel right now. A friend called me up this morning with the news, i couldn't believe it and i still can't...i can't hear any songs by her now or i start crying....but that's of course nothing compared to the way her family and close friends must be feeling right now, my condolences go out to them.

I will never forget you girl, Rest In Peace

I almost cried again when I saw Headline news reporting "Singer & Actress Aaliyah was killed" and when seeing 1979-2001. If you asked me 2 days ago which entertainer you would pick to be the one to not die it would've been Aaliyah. It pi--ed me off seeingthem put facts at the bottom and then have "Famous Crashes: Buddy Holly, STevie Ray Vaughn, etc..." as if they had no respect for her. At least she is with her grandmother she so dearly loved (she dedicated her new album to her) and by God's side.

Apparently we will never really know the full extent of what happened and what went on in the minds of the people on board. I just heard that the 2 survivors that were in critical condition have died as a result of their injuries.

Where did you hear this? I checked USAtoday and cnn.com and mtv.com but they don't have anything.

Sean

On aaliyahonline.com I tried to make a post but it is so crowded it is so hard to do and I posted one at mtv.com. It makes me sick to think that too much baggage was a problem. Sick bastards on the site there are saying lines in capital letters like "Why do you like her so much she is so stupid" "She overpacked and killed herself and either other people", it just hurts to think that overpacking was a problem...

Dang, NO SURVIVORS?!?! Y'all know something? Ever since I nearly drowned on June 4th, 2001, I've been so thankful of every minute of my life. Since I survived, I know God left me on Earth for some unfinished business-what that is, I have NO idea.

I remember watching her Diary. She ALWAYS mentioned how blessed she was to have a great career in something she LOVES to do, having a great and loving and supportive family. She said she was genuinely happy with her life-FEW people EVER become genuinely happy-I felt her sincerity when she said it, too. It devasted my sister more than it did me. My sister was in the 9th grade when Aaliyah came out-her and Aaliyah are the same age. She listened to Aaliyah, among a few other artists through EVERYTHING-especially when her and my mother almost died in a car accident. So my sister was so spaced out when I told her the news.

People always say, "Why'd it have to happen to [so and so]?" The more time passes, the more I realize how easily God can take our life away. Think about it. Here in California, I spend at LEAST 2-3 hours daily on the roads and I don't even commute! How many crayzies are out there that I drive by? They could side-swipe me and I'm gone. A tire could blow anytime. By the big-rigs, a log or something could fall off.

I know that's a bit too depressing, but that's what crosses my mind semi-often. I'm listening to Yolanda Adams' "Through The Storm"-can you say wet keyboard.

I know! Tell me, was Aaliyah not the most friendliest, sweetest, nicest person in the music biz? How can anyone say such negative things she did? I can't even come up with a "Well if she did one thing bad it was..." line cause she treated her fans and peers the way she treated her family.
